Hello All :)
This week has been engaging and fun. I've created an interactive powerpoint, which was enjoyable for my older students . They asked me all kinds of questions related to our theme, Internet and Computing English and knew quite a lot of English IT words and abreviations they use mainly on social networks.
Another exciting thing was that I created a Facebook page for my younger students, entitled Reading class, where they can post and comment using English. This was a lot of fun and they helped me design the page. I can't wait to see how it's going to turn out.
Happy blogging!

Hi Anca,
ReplyDeleteI'm also exciting knowing that you used facebook in your teaching. Facebook is the most popular social media in my country, Indonesia, almost no teen has no facebook, is it in Romania? Regarding the popularity of the facebook, I do believe that it will be a great and effective technology tool for our teaching media. I'm thinking once to use it in my class, probably creating facebook group is appropriate to my students...

Hi Anca,
ReplyDeleteI haven't used Facebook with my students yet. One reason is that the student has to be at least 13 to sign up in Facebook, but I mostly teach younger ones. I know that some of them have Facebook access anyway, but law is the law and I don't want to encourage them.
I could use it with older ones (the oldest are 16), but I have to admit I have evaded it. And now seems that more and more youngsters, at least in Estonia, have moved elsewhere (Instagram, What'sUp, Twitter) and Facebook is mostly for their parents.
Best wishes,
Annika

Hello Anca,
ReplyDeleteI think using Facebook to get closer to students and engage them to more learning is a great idea. I am using some of the kind myself these days.
Wish you all the best with your project.

Hi Elsa,
DeleteIt seems that creating Facebook groups with our students seems to be the key for their motivation, engagement and collaboration.
Good luck with your project!

I have liked the idea of making a Facebook group. Let us know how it goes. I do think it will be useful. As it is Facebook the learners will be have fun and remain motivated.
